20 Chinese electronics makers, all members of the EVD (Enhanced Versatile Disc) Industry Alliance, have announced that they plan to end DVD (Digital Versatile Disc) player production in 2008. These makers, including industry leaders such as Skyworth, Haier, and TCL, plan to replace DVD with EVD, China's homegrown format. Also, a joint venture on promoting EVD content was formed. Founding members include Antaeus Universal Digital Technology, Zoke Culture Group, and China International Television Corporation.
